Technician repairing a stainless steel kitchen range hood

Expert Range Hood & Exhaust Fan Repair

A functioning range hood is essential for a safe, comfortable kitchen. When your exhaust fan stops working, simple cooking can quickly fill your home with smoke, aerosolized grease, strong odors, and carbon monoxide, often triggering your fire alarms. If your hood is making a loud rattling noise, failing to pull air, or refusing to turn on, you need an expert.

Because range hoods are mounted above your cooking surface, they are constantly exposed to high heat and heavy grease vapor. Over time, this grease can penetrate the internal components, seizing up the blower motor or shorting out the electronic touch panels. Our licensed appliance technicians specialize in diagnosing and repairing all types of ventilation systems, including under-cabinet hoods, wall-mounted chimneys, island hoods, and retractable downdraft vents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dealing with a smoky kitchen? Here are the most common questions our GTA technicians get regarding exhaust fan issues.

A loud rattling or vibrating noise usually means the blower wheel (the fan blade) is loose, damaged, or heavily caked in hardened grease, which throws it off balance. A low humming noise with no airflow indicates that the exhaust motor bearings have seized up. Our technicians can replace the motor or blower assembly to restore quiet, powerful suction.
If you hear the fan but the smoke isn't clearing, the airflow is blocked. This can be caused by completely clogged grease filters, a stuck exterior damper (the flap on the outside of your house that opens to let air out), or an obstruction in the ductwork. We can diagnose the exact point of the blockage to restore proper ventilation.
Yes. Because steam and grease rise, the control board and switch assembly in a range hood are highly susceptible to moisture damage and grease intrusion. If changing the lightbulbs doesn't work, or the buttons are completely dead, we can replace the faulty control board or switch assembly, which is far cheaper than buying a brand-new hood.
